The invitation is slightly surprising. Grantaire has a way of keeping him amusingly off-balance, which, he's decided, is why he likes the man. But he's in a good mood too; for all that he's spent the day with any number of younger people, he scarcely feels his age, and indeed is walking with something of a spring in his step.
